Introduction to Agronomy

 

Are you keen to develop your agronomy skills? This training aims to equip you with the skills and knowledge to confidently carry out sampling procedures, interpret agronomic advice and implement recommended cultural practices in the field. The focus is on practical Agronomy at an operational level.


Who should attend the course?

Farm staff, farm supervisors, contractors, service providers with a minimum of 2 years experience in industry.

*** You must hold a Level 3 Chemical Application to attend this course, or be in the process of completing your Level 3 Chemical training to apply.


What does the course consist of

4 days plus online component.

Online component

  • Reading & instructional videos.

  • Short quizzes & assessment.

Workshop 1

  • A two-day interactive session including practical demonstrations.

Workshop 2

  • A two-day interactive classroom and field-based session.

  • Interpretation of farm soil test results.


Units of competency

  • AHCBAC404 - Plan and implement agricultural crop maintenance

  • AHCSOL401 - Sample soils and interpret results

  • AHCSOL202 - Assist with soil or growing media sampling and testing


Accredited Training

The Introduction to Agronomy course is aligned and delivered against vocational education and training requirements.

Successful completion of assessment tasks will result in achieving a Statement of Attainment and can contribute to a nationally recognised qualification.
